Top 5 High School Must Haves

Some every day items are necessities. Others, we merely want and only use occasionally. Here are five items that can keep you organized and/or entertained, and are a great investment.

Some every day items are necessities. Others, we merely want and only use occasionally. Here are five items that can keep you organized and/or entertained, and are a great investment.

1. Bullet Journal/Planner

I absolutely love my bullet journal. I typically use it to keep all of my to-do’s in order, keep track of all of my upcoming school assignments and to jot down a few of my goals, but it can be used in so many ways! Be creative with it!

2. A Theme

This one may be a bit tricky to accomplish, especially if you’re a total bargain school supply shopper (like me). But this is good for staying organized and put together throughout high school. And it’s totally fine to change your theme from year to year! If you choose to have a different theme each year, have a NEUTRAL back pack so you don’t have to spend a ton of money before the first day. If you don’t have a theme in mind or need inspiration, feel free to check out my post on 2020 High School Themes. Click here to visit.

3. A Personal Device

Okay, guys. Let’s be real. It’s so hard to keep track of school notes in a plain and simple notebook. I would prefer (and recommend) copying a (colorful/attention-getting) version of your notes onto a tablet or laptop that has been revealed in the past year or so. That way, you can review notes on the go without keeping track of endless sheets of paper. Not to mention it comes with entertaining apps, as well!

4. Colorful Pens

Maybe the iPad isn’t in your back-to-school budget. No biggie! You can still take gorgeous and clean notes in a normal notebook. I recommend ‘Bic’ and ‘Staples’ brand writing utensils.

5. “Just in Case” Money

The truth is that emergency money is rarely used in actual emergencies, so I like to call my extra cash “just in case” money. I have it just in case I need it . Maybe I forgot my lunch at home, or I make sudden plans to go home with a friend and I need money to get there. Whatever the reason, it’s a good idea to have it in your back pocket in the event that it is necessary.

Over the course of the past few weeks, I’ve been creating and designing hair accessories and am now (officially) listing them on my Etsy shop! If you’re looking for the perfect headband to match your outfit, then you’ve come to the right place.

1. 2 Pack Style Set

So far, this is the only set I’ve made, but I hope to sell this individually sometime soon. The two colors shown here are “polka pink” and “midnight polka”. The style shown is a top knot. These are made of textured stretch fabric and are soft and comfortable to wear. They make a perfect Christmas or birthday gift because of their timeless & classy look, and girls of all ages are sure to love them!

Adorable Christmas Decorations

If you’ve been following for a little while, you know that I love Christmas. Since December is (finally) here, I thought it would be a fun idea to post a few of my favorite Christmas decorations that I think you’ll love!

If you’ve been following for a little while, you know that I absolutely love Christmas. I have to try pretty hard to wait on decorating until Thanksgiving is over. Since December is finally here, I thought it would be a fun idea to post a few of my favorite Christmas decorations.

When the temperature first begins to drop, and the snow begins to fall, I put on the Christmas music and start dancing! I put the Christmas scent in my wax melter, and drink a little too much hot cocoa. (Also, I’m curious: do you say ‘hot chocolate’ or ‘hot cocoa’? Let me know in the comments!)

While all of this is so much fun, my favorite part of Christmas is decorating! It really gives me all the holiday feels. I figured that I would list a few of my favorite Christmas decorations from Amazon that you can use this year, or maybe next year when Christmas rolls around again!

1. Boho Christmas Rug

Ok, I think I might have a bit of an obsession with rugs. Seasonal rugs have always been my favorite because you can never have too many. You can switch them out anytime! While this boho rug is seasonal, it might be able to match the year – round decor of certain homes.

2. Pine & Eucalyptus Garland

Similar to a traditional garland, a pine & eucalyptus garland is a modern farmhouse spin on an often seen decoration. I love eucalyptus garlands with ornaments and lights, but garlands with pine cones and berries are also adorable.

3. ‘Be Merry’ Christmas Banner

I love a pretty Christmas banner as much as I love rugs. It adds a bit of character to a home when a banner is draped across a fireplace or bookshelf. Burlap banners are my go-to but I also have a thing for

4. Tassel Beads

Tassel beads are a lovely piece to add to a foyer or table. I think they look wonderful when draped from a pot or vase because they add color or they can add to the overall theme of a home. I linked a beaded banner that can be used for drapery, or above a fireplace. This particular set is meant for Christmas, but there are sets for all seasons and home color schemes.

5. Stocking Decorations

Are you a college student or someone looking for a fun idea to do with friends this holiday? You might consider investing in a set of matching stocking s to hang above the fireplace just for fun. There are a few games to do with friends that involve stockings that you can easily find on Pinterest. Below are a few of my favorite boho stockings from Amazon.

Bonus: Fuzzy Slippers

Who can go without a pair of fuzzy slippers on Christmas day?? I feel like I am always wearing fuzzy socks around the house, but a few pairs seem to wear out easily. If you are interested in slippers, I recommend moccasin slippers as a simple and fashionable option. If you are looking for a fancier slipper, you might find yourself attracted to these Jessica Simpson slippers from Amazon.

Note – The above Moccasin Slippers can double as an outdoor slipper as well

Did any of these catch your eye or match your home aesthetic? I’d love to know what you think, so feel free to let me know in the comments below. Have a wonderful week!

Starting a Bullet Journal on a Budget

A bullet journal is a way to artistically plan and organize. No matter what your artistic ability is, bullet journals can be conquered easily. So, here are my top tips for starting your own!

A bullet journal (or Bujo) is a way to artistically plan and organize. They are 100% customizable, and you can never really make a mistake. No matter what your artistic ability is, bullet journals can be conquered easily. I have been bullet journaling for quite a while and I absolutely love it. So, here are my top tips for starting your own!

Planning doesn’t always come naturally and it can be challenging to find a method that works for you. I guarantee that bullet journaling is incredibly helpful. Let’s get to it!

1. Invest in a Bullet Journal

Obviously, this is the place to start. You can’t start a bullet journal without the notebook! For a bullet journal, you need a dot grid notebook. These aren’t pricey at all, and can be found easily on Amazon! You can pick your color and even decorate with stickers! (you can find stickers from my Etsy shop right here) Below are a few links to my favorite bullet journals. It might help you to choose a bullet journal kit, as it saves a bit of money.

Artfan Bullet Journal

Poluma Bullet Journal

Scrivwell Bullet Journal

2. Plan your Monthly Theme

Your bullet journal can either match completely, or match month by month. You can buy bullet journal brush pens here. I recommend these dual tip pens because you have the option between a brush, (which looks lovely) or fine tip pens, which are good for detail. You can also use washable markers, but you run the risk of ink bleeding through the page, even if the paper is thick.

3. Create an Aesthetic Key

A bullet journal key explains the meaning of each color and symbol that you will use when journaling. For example, a star might mean that you have an appointment, whereas a dash might mean that something was cancelled. It’s entirely up to you to decide what each symbol means

Bonus 1:

As I’ve mentioned previously, you can personalize the outside of your bullet journal with stickers and decals. You can find the stickers that I’ve listed on the Etsy shop here.

Bonus 2:

Consider purchasing planner stickers or stencils. This can help make your bullet journal more aesthetic, and it can have some organization benefits as well. You can find a like to some of my favorites here.

You’re all set! Now you can plan and organize. For similar tips, you can check out my post on “How to Organize as a Student”. Happy Journaling!
